Honda’s urban EV shortlisted for What Car? reader award

The Honda Urban EV has been shortlisted for the coveted What Car? Reader Award and is among the most eagerly anticipated car launches of 2019

The Honda Urban EV has been shortlisted for the coveted What Car? Reader Award and is among the most eagerly anticipated car launches of 2019.

Expected to be on the roads towards the end of 2019, the Urban EV was launched at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show and will be Honda’s first mass-produced battery electric vehicle sold in Europe. With a mass production version scheduled to be launched next year, order books will open in early 2019.

Over 10,000 readers are expected to vote on a list of 2019 car launches compiled by the experts at What Car?, the competition is fierce as the award is a valuable indication of sentiment towards cars being brought to market in the next year.

Honda has won the award in 2015 with the HR-V, which claimed a quarter of all votes, came a close second in 2016 with the NSX, and then triumphed again in 2017 when the British-built Civic Type R comfortably took top spot, taking almost half the votes.

Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, commented: “When it launched at Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the response was overwhelming – the Urban EV stole the show. Kicking off 2019 with a win for this car at the most prestigious automotive awards ceremony would be a fantastic achievement and set the bar high. We are incredibly keen to win this award and are asking all Honda fans, customers and lovers of the Urban EV to get voting!”
