- Holden recognise top technicians from Australia and New Zealand in annual Technicians Guild competition
- Over 2,800 technicians and apprentices competed to determine ‘the best of the best’
Holden has recognised its highest achieving dealer service technicians and apprentices at an awards ceremony at the MCG last night, following the grand final of the 2015 Technicians Guild competition held at Holden’s headquarters in Port Melbourne.
More than 2,800 Holden technicians and apprentices were invited to participate in the annual program that ran from March to November 2015 and culminated in the grand final – a six-station all-day skills assessment in Melbourne.
Following numerous state based competitions, the grand finalists descended on Holden headquarters to compete in a range of theoretical and hands-on challenges designed to test their technical skills, product knowledge and diagnostic ability.
Holden’s Technicians Guild and it’s supporting programs ensure Holden Service Centre technicians and apprentices receive training and skills development through a range of written and practical exercises and is integral to maintaining Holden’s exceptional service standards on both new and used vehicles.
The annual program has evolved into an engaging and rewarding training opportunity, while the competition element gives the participants the opportunity to compete against their peers and prove themselves to be ‘The Best of the Best’ within the Holden Dealer Network.
In addition to the qualified technicians, the top six Technicians Guild apprentices from Australia and New Zealand were also invited to compete against their peers.
After a well contested grand final, the following technicians took out the major prizes:
Technicians Guild Grand Final Placing (Technicians)
- Darren Ottey, Metro Motors Holden, WA
- Richard (Phill) Burrows, Ross Gray Holden, Qld
- Sergii Zablotskyi, Rosetown Holden, NZ
Technicians Guild Grand Final Placing (Apprentices)
- Thomas Hallen, Davie Motors, NZ
Steve Eagland, Director – Holden Training Academy said Holden Dealer Service Technicians across Australia and New Zealand continued to raise the bar and demonstrates Holden’s commitment to deliver world-class products and services.
“Holden takes great pride in the exceptional customer service, product knowledge and technical ability displayed by our Dealer Service Technicians and apprentices,” Mr Eagland said.
“The Technicians Guild program continues to nurture the talent of our highly skilled technicians and apprentices, ensuring Holden owners can be confident that they are getting their car serviced at an authorised Holden Service Centre by technicians specifically trained on the latest in diagnostic technology.”
“The product knowledge and expertise demonstrated by our technicians not only covers new vehicles like Astra and Insignia but also supports our Lifetime Capped Price Service scheme, covering every Holden ever built including iconic cars like Kingswood and Torana.”
