The FIA Foundation is pleased to announce that with effect from 1st February Saul Billingsley has been appointed Director General in succession to David Ward, who resigned in August 2013.
Tim Keown, Chairman of the FIA Foundation, said:
“Saul was selected for this important position at the end of a 4-month search supervised by leading specialists Odgers Berndtson, which resulted in over 60 applicants. His appointment has the unanimous support of the Board of Trustees.
Saul joined the Foundation from the FIA when it was formed in 2001, and was appointed Deputy Director General in 2004. We are confident that he will now lead it with distinction and will work with the FIA, the FIA Institute, our member clubs, and our other global partners to achieve our overriding goal of safer, cleaner, more sustainable mobility around the world.
In this he will have the enthusiastic support of the staff and the Board, and we wish him every success in the years ahead.”
Saul Billingsley said:
“I am grateful to the FIA Foundation’s Board of Trustees for their support, and thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Foundation. I look forward to further developing our portfolio of activities promoting safe and sustainable mobility, deepening our connection to our global membership of automobile clubs, and working closely with all our global partners to ensure that the Foundation plays its full part in protecting the health and environment of millions of people.”
