CPT appoints chief commercial officer as auto industry implements 48V technology as an affordable route to ultra-low emission vehicles
Controlled Power Technologies (CPT) has today announced the creation of a new senior management role with the appointment of Dennis Hayter as chief commercial officer. Based at the company’s headquarters at Laindon in Essex, Hayter will be responsible for CPT’s commercial activities and customer relationships across all CPT’s operations including Coventry in the West Midlands and its subsidiaries in Germany and the USA.
“With an increasingly international customer base and an enhanced product portfolio for the global vehicle and engine sectors we needed to transition our sales and business development roles into a wider commercial context,” says the company’s co-founder and chief executive Nick Pascoe. “The challenge for CPT of becoming a significant supplier of driveline electrification products into these sectors is a familiar one for Dennis. His recent background in the low carbon auto sector and in technology and strategy consulting gives him a keen sense of what needs to be done as the automotive industry accelerates the introduction of 48V mild hybrid technology as a cost-effective route to ultra-low emission vehicles, which are defined as emitting 75g/km or less of CO2 emissions.”
“I’m delighted to take up the commercialisation challenge with CPT and work with the sales, engineering and production teams in pursuit of successful outcomes with existing and prospective OEM and Tier 1 customers,” says Hayter. “There are numerous applications for CPT’s switched-reluctance motor-generator technology, whether for engine down-sizing or down-speeding, torque assist for driveability enhancement, or more advanced concepts for future driveline architectures and more challenging emission goals.”
“The currently concluding ADEPT programme, targeting a 15 per cent CO2 reduction from a class-leading Euro 6 NOx compliant current production vehicle, demonstrates what is possible. And the recently announced FEVER programme, developing an electrically assisted rear axle module, indicates another key element for next generation propulsion systems. I’m excited to be a part of this transition towards enhanced environmentally friendly vehicles for the global vehicle industry.
“It’s clear that the CPT technology delivers world-leading functionality and is at a high level of application readiness, so the focus will be on configuring customer specific commercial agreements. It’s also about managing how the company’s technology is supplied to vehicle OEM and Tier 1 customers – whether by in-house assembly or by strategic partnership with an established Tier 1 or Tier 2 production specialist.”
Hayter has served as a principal and practice leader at BAH and A.T. Kearney, as a partner at Roland Berger & Partners, and most recently was vice president for business development and external programmes at Intelligent Energy. Hayter has worked extensively in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific regions.
