VDO has an interesting offer for drivers of commercial vehicles and fleet managers: those who stock up now on tachograph charts for 2013 can take advantage of the “one month for free” sales campaign.

Truck and bus drivers who still use analog tachographs cannot do without tachograph charts. At the start of each year, VDO customers traditionally have a chance to benefit from attractive package deals that allow them to replenish their supplies at a low price. This year’s campaign, “one month for free”, offers four packages, each containing 220 tachograph charts. And as long as the promotion lasts, each will contain 30 additional free charts. That makes a total of 120 free charts, which is the average number used in a month by vehicles that still use analog tachographs.

Analog tachographs record speed, distance traveled, driving times and rest periods on the charts. They have a capacity of about 2 MB. They are easy to read; the data can be seen at a glance. In addition, VDO tachograph charts can be digitized using evaluation software, permitting the collected data to be analyzed by fleet management software. In the EU, digital tachographs have been required by law since mid-2006 for newly registered trucks over 3.5 t and for buses. Nevertheless, many analog tachographs are still in use on Europe’s roads.
