BorgWarner’s advanced technologies drive the 2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year winners: the Cadillac ATS and Ram 1500.
Announced during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the awards program is celebrating its twentieth year. “From transmission components and timing systems to fan drives and transfer case systems, BorgWarner engineers advanced technologies to help drivers enjoy powerful performance with increased fuel economy and lower emissions,” said James Verrier, President and Chief Executive Officer, BorgWarner. “We are proud to contribute our technologies to these outstanding vehicles. Congratulations to Cadillac and Ram for Car and Truck of the Year respectively.”
For the Cadillac ATS, BorgWarner supplies friction plates and one-way clutches for the 6-speed automatic transmission and Torque-On-Demand® (TOD®) transfer cases and controls for all-wheel drive models.
For the Ram 1500, BorgWarner produces viscous fan drives for the V8 engine, timing systems for models equipped with Pentastar engines and friction plates for the 8- speed automatic transmission. For four-wheel drive models, BorgWarner also supplies part-time and TOD® transfer case systems including controls and HY-VO® chain.
A coalition of 49 automotive journalists representing magazines, television, radio, newspapers and websites from the U.S. and Canada selected the winners from a field of 46 new or substantially redesigned vehicles for the 2013 model year.
