By redirecting a controllable percentage of exhaust gas back into the intake air, the company’s innovation allows NOX emissions to be reduced significantly. The cost-effective method is applicable to a wide range of engines, where it optimizes heat absorption and reduces oxygen concentration in the combustion chamber. Not only does the innovative solution resist high thermal loads – it also increases efficiency and offers durable performance, even with a minimum of coolant flow.

The company’s EHRS combines advanced EGR technology with a waste heat recovery system (WHRS). By using the heat from the exhaust gas, which is usually wasted, the EHRS helps shorten the engine warm-up time, enhances efficiency, reduces emissions and improves fuel economy. Exhaust gas is routed through a heat exchanger, so that the thermal energy of the gas heats up the vehicle’s subsystem fluids. The company’s EHRS also allows mechanical losses to be reduced.

The exhibits showing BorgWarner’s latest technologies in Pune will include its advanced VCT technology, which offers a decreased time to torque and improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). The solution also lowers power consumption and reduces the “time to pressure” requirements of the oil pump.
