On January 26, ATA, along with AAA and the U. S Chamber of Commerce released an infographic and letter to Congress about the importance of insuring the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund and advocating for an increase in the motor fuel tax.
The graphic, which can be seen here, goes into detail on what the Highway Trust Fund is, what it funds and why it is important to make sure it has a sustainable source of long-term revenue.
In a letter to Congress that accompanied the graphic, the organizations said America’s “roads and bridges that are the backbone of American mobility and competitiveness” and emphasized that the “simple solution to address this issue in the near-term: raise the federal fuels user fee, provided the funds are used to ease congestion and improve safety.”
