Waymo waves goodbye to the driver as L4 trials begin

While everyone else focuses on refining their Level 3 systems, Waymo leaps ahead with a fully autonomous fleet in Arizona, writes Megan Lampinen

Waymo pulls ahead of the pack once again with the announcement that it has launched a fleet of "fully self-driving" vehicles on the road in Phoenix, Arizona. Speaking at a Web Summit conference in Lisbon, Portugal, Waymo Chief Executive John Krafcik played a video showing the company's test vehicles operating on public roads without human supervision. He described the move as "the start of a new phase for Waymo and the history of this technology."
