VW board pay cuts to help finances (a little) and image (a lot)

Should companies in crisis continue to hand out big bonuses and hefty salaries to top management? The question has come front and centre at Volkswagen in light of its defeat device fiasco, the financial impact of which will be massive. In response to pressure from labour unions and reportedly the state of Lower Saxony (its second largest shareholder), the OEM has announced that remuneration plans are under review.
