Volkswagen Brazil suspends operations; workers put on furlough

Brazil's depressed market hits Volkswagen as production operations grind to a halt, and workers are put on furlough

Owing to the declining automotive market in Brazil, vehicle manufacturers operating in the country have had to work at keeping inventory levels down. For instance, domestic automotive demand fell by 7.2% last year and continues to drop. As a result, automotive production in the country is expected to drop to its lowest level since 2007.
