US light vehicle sales came in ahead of expectations in August, despite concerns on the financial markets and the loss of the Labor Day weekend to September. Autodata figures put the seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales at 17.7 million units, marking a ten-year high and the fourth consecutive month that the SAAR topped the 17 million mark.
