Urban access restrictions require clarity and harmony, and soon

Cities around the world are exploring solutions to growing congestion, emissions and noise levels. Urban vehicle access restrictions are popping up all the time, but it's a case of every city for itself. By Megan Lampinen

Urbanisation is leading to road congestion and rising vehicle emissions and noise levels. These are already causing serious problems today, which will only become more urgent moving forward. "Given the fact that more people are living and working in cities, we have seen an increase of traffic in urban areas. We predict this trend will continue," commented Erik Jonnaert, Secretary General at the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).
