Since April 2013, the Takata airbag inflator recall issue has been ever-present in automotive news media. Initially just six car brands and a limited number of models were said to be affected, but by November 2015, more than 34 million vehicles were reportedly implicated in the US alone, with another 7 million affected elsewhere across the globe. It would not be surprising if the final total turned out to be even higher.
