In January 2016, European Commissioners met with representatives from the automotive sector in Brussels. They decided to decision to set up a ‘High Level Group’ on the Competitiveness and Sustainable Growth of the Automotive Industry in the EU (GEAR 2030).
The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) hailed the meeting as a success, and said that it was looking forward to “identifying those policy and legislative interventions that are needed to boost the competitiveness and growth of the automotive industry.”
