Suppliers race to deliver the rich world of connected vehicle services

Harman believes 5G will bring much of what we recognise in the existing digital world into the car, and stresses the importance of a multi-product environment for consumers. By Xavier Boucherat

It may be early days for vehicular connected services, but the technology already exists, and consumer adoption in the wider world of digital services is already extremely high: the challenge now is bringing service platforms into mainstream vehicle production. That’s according to Tom Rivers, Vice President, Connected Car at Harman. “The question we’re facing as a supplier is, when will it be implemented?” he says.
