Solid start for Western Europe: one day shorter, 5.9% stronger

New light vehicle sales across Western Europe rose 5.9% in January, but economic headwinds from outside Europe pose a downside risk, writes Megan Lampinen

Momentum in Europe's new car market has carried over into 2016, kicking off the year with another month of growth. According to figures from LMC Automotive, new light vehicle sales across the markets of Western Europe rose 5.9% year on year in January, even with one fewer selling day.
