As US momentum slows, the competition among manufacturers shifts up a gear. The market, while still strong, has started to plateau and brands are now fighting for fewer new vehicle sales. Jeff Schuster, Senior Vice President of forecasting at LMC Automotive, has warned that "competitive pressure is at an all-time high."
At Ford, the mood is sanguine. Mark LaNeve, Ford Vice President, US Marketing, Sales and Service, suggests that competition is no bad thing when it comes with such healthy volumes.
