Ford's cancellation of a supply contract with SKF could have a bearing on frequent work stoppages experienced by the South African automotive industry on account of high levels of industrial action

The automotive industry is an important sector for the South African economy. The country's government relies on this segment to create jobs, alleviate poverty and to achieve equality in the country. For more than a year now, however, this industry has been suffering turbulent times due to slow economic growth, strikes, rising inflation and exchange rate vulnerability.
