In 2013, total sales of new energy vehicles in China rose to 17,642 units, which was an increase of 37.9% compared with the levels seen in 2012. The bulk of the sales came from battery electric vehicles, at 14,604 units, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles accounted for 3,038 units, according to figures published early this year by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
