Plant profile: BMW Group Plant Leipzig, Germany

BMW’s Leipzig plant has been the home of its i brand from more than half a decade. Jack Hunsley goes behind the scenes to learn more about how BMW EVs are built.

Following a sizeable expansion first announced in 2010, the plant has been the home of BMW’s electrification efforts for more than half a decade now, after the automaker kicked off what it termed a new era in automotive production when it began serial production of BMW i electric vehicles (EVs) in September 2013.
