China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina) has reached an agreement with the controlling shareholders of Pirelli to undertake a €7bn (US$7.59bn) acquisition of the Italian tyre supplier. There are two key factors associated with this deal: Pirelli’s weaker areas of business will be boosted, and already strong premium sales are set to balloon in the growing Chinese market.
