For a vehicle, complete life cycle assessment (LCA) comprises three different stages. These include the production phase, the use phase and end-of-life. The automotive industry has been applying LCA towards automotive products and processes since the early 1990s, primarily as an instrument for environmentally-oriented product and process development.
