A new American Petroleum Institute (API) category of engine oil, PC-11, is still on the way, but is currently running behind schedule. The implementation was scheduled for the spring of 2016, but it looks likely that the standard now will not be ready until late 2016 or possibly even 2017. Dan Arcy, the OEM Technical Manager at Shell Global Solutions and Chairman of the API New Category Development Team (NCDT), told Automotive World, “It’s going to be a very tight window to meet.”
