US President Barack Obama made a whirlwind visit to Detroit on 20 January, shining the spotlight on the progress that the automotive industry has made since its government bailout in 2009. The visit included a tour of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) and a speech at the United Auto Workers-General Motors (UAW-GM) Center for Human Resources.
