Nio tests European waters with Norway launch

Nio says that building a user community and making EV ownership stress free will bring it success in Europe’s leading EV market. By Jack Hunsley

Norway’s electric vehicle (EV) uptake has been superb. It has led the way on internal combustion engine sales bans, setting a hugely ambitious deadline of 2025. This ambition has already convinced thousands of Norwegians to switch and, in January 2021, Norway announced it had become the first nation in the world where pure EV sales outstripped gasoline, diesel and even hybrid sales. It is why more brands are eyeing the country as a great entry point into the nascent European EV market, and one of the most recent to plant its flag is China’s Nio.
