New manufacturing innovations further the cause of carbon fibre composites

Japanese company Teijin has come up with a new carbon fibre prepreg leading to an increase in the company's production efficiency with regard to carbon fibre reinforced plastics.

Considering the fact that carbon fibre composites are stronger and lighter than steel, the material would appear an ideal candidate for use by the global automotive industry. This would seem especially the case today, when there is much emphasis on reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Carbon fibre composites would be the ideal material for vehicle manufacturers looking at lightweighting solutions.
