Consolidation concern if India’s car market fails to improve beyond 2017/18

Price Waterhouse's Abdul Majeed feels that consolidation by a few OEMs in India is likely if the domestic market situation does not improve beyond 2017-18

The Indian automotive industry produced a total of 281,317 passenger vehicles in November 2014, translating into a 15.1% year-on-year increase compared with November 2013. It was not all positive, however, for the industry, with many OEMs such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Nissan and General Motors posting lower production volumes compared with a year earlier.
