Mitsubishi hack not really a hack, but exposes serious vulnerabilities

Freddie Holmes looks into the latest exposé of weak automotive cyber security, with Mitsubishi taking the fall this time

The number of cyber attacks is mounting up, and recent reports have raised fresh concerns for owners of connected vehicles.

On 13 June, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) confirmed that a third party had “tried to decode the password” for the Wi-Fi connection used by the Outlander PHEV’s Remote Control app. Owners of this vehicle have access to a smartphone app that enables certain functions to be controlled remotely.
