Mercedes-Benz remains dedicated to Russian investment

Automotive World tours the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter line operated by GAZ at Nizhny Novgorod

Mercedes-Benz has voiced its commitment to remain in the Russian market despite risks that have seen a number of OEMs cut production there altogether.

The German OEM has been producing its T1N Sprinter van at GAZ Group’s Gorky plant in Nizhny Novgorod since 2013, after joint investments of more than €100m (US$113m) in product adjustment, production processes and sales networks. Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, believes the partnership with GAZ was a “step forward in the promising Russian market.”
