Marchionne flags ‘significant industry shifts’ behind Q3 loss

FCA's CEO says it would be foolish to "ignore the magnitude of the events that have characterised the third quarter from an operational standpoint"

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) wrapped up the third quarter (Q3) with a net loss of €299m (US$328m), down from a net profit of €188m in the same quarter last year, with progress in North America, Europe and Latin America offset by one-off after-tax charges of €602m linked to recalls. However, it was a quarter of exceptional developments, ranging from the explosion in the Chinese Port of Tianjin in August to Dieselgate in September.
