March 2015 MAUT data suggests an improving European CV market

At the end of Q1 2015, Europe's truck market seems increasingly to be on the mend

Germany’s Federal Office for Goods Transport – the Bundesamt für Güterverkehr, or BAG – releases data obtained from the operation of the LKW-MAUT Truck toll on a monthly basis. MAUT applies to around 35% of the German road network, and currently all vehicles over 12,000 kg gvw fall within its scope. However, as of October 2015, this population will be broadened out to include all vehicles over 7,500 kg. Unlike many data sets available for assessing the health of the European road transport business, MAUT’s relative immediacy provides a useful counterpoint to the more historical registration data offered by ACEA.
