London T-Charge revives policy patchwork debate

A patchwork of different standards across the UK emerges as London launches "the world's toughest" emissions regulations. By Megan Lampinen

The introduction of London's T-charge has kicked off a flurry of debate regarding emissions policies and air quality approaches. Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has described it as a milestone to encourage cleaner motoring and boasted that "London now has the world's toughest emissions standards." At the same time, it has revived concerns about a patchwork of mismatched policies at a time when other regions are looking to the UK to set an example.
