Interview: Paul Mascarenas, President and Chairman of the Executive Board, FISITA

With a future of highly automated vehicles in sight, FISITA supports parties collaborating to develop connected, efficient and sustainable vehicles

As we look to the future, trends such as population growth, increasing numbers of vehicles and urbanisation challenge the very notion of personal mobility, due to the issues of traffic congestion and environmental concern. With a future of highly automated vehicles in sight, many parties are beginning to work together to develop vehicles which are not only connected but efficient and sustainable.

The International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies (FISITA) is an industry body which deems efficient and safe mobility a main goal going forward. The organisation works to bring together engineers, industry, government, academia, and environmental and standards organisations from around the world in a spirit of cooperation to share ideas and advance the development of the car and future mobility solutions.

Previously Chief Technical Officer at Ford, Paul Mascarenas was appointed in June as FISITA President for a two-year term, alongside his recently acquired role as a member of the Board of Directors at ON Semiconductor, an automotive semiconductor supplier. Automotive World spoke to Mascarenas about his role at FISITA, and how he aims to further the goals of the organisation.
