OnStar is now on its 9th generation hardware. After 16 years of business, the company boasts six million subscribers, including over 400,000 subscribers in China since its launch in that country.
In this video interview recorded by Automotive World, Nick Pudar, OnStar’s Vice President of Planning and Business Development, discusses the company’s plans to provide electricity utility companies with access to OnStar’s smart grid and electric vehicle APIs, in order to enable them to develop electric vehicle-related apps for OnStar’s EV customers. Pudar also discusses OnStar’s global expansion plans, and OnStar For My Vehicle (FMV), the company’s first aftermarket product which was launched in mid-2011.
