Government intervention sought in UK driver shortage crisis

A shortage of drivers is leading to many operators turning down work, parking up trucks and cancelling orders for new vehicles

The shortage of qualified truck drivers in key markets around the world continues to keep executives up at night. The subject falls into the spotlight in the UK at the moment, where haulage chiefs are preparing to take their concerns to the government. On 17 June, the Road Haulage Association will approach the Prime Minister with urgent requests for government intervention to help with the chronic truck driver shortage, a shortage that is dramatically impacting the country's supply chain and threatens economic recovery.
