GM extends compensation deadline for crash victims – but is it enough?

As the death toll rises to 33, General Motors decided the deadline for compensation for victims of crashes caused by faulty ignition switches should be extended for a month.

This extension took place on the advice of Kenneth Feinberg, GM’s compensation fund administrator, who announced on 16 November that applications can now be filed through 31 January 2015. Feinberg has noted that he has determined that 33 death claims are eligible for compensation by the fund, an increase from 32 a week ago.
