General Motors-Unifor deal ‘turns the tide’ for Canadian manufacturing

Unifor never expected talks with General Motors to be easy, but it looks like strike action has been avoided.

While union President Jerry Dias was determined to secure new investment for Canada and GM was equally determined to postpone any new investment at this time, the two have managed to come to an agreement and announced a tentative deal covering 3,860 employees at the Oshawa, St Catharines and Woodstock facilities.
