Eyes on the road: Why head-up displays mean safer vehicles

In theory, the HUD could create a safer driving experience, but such displays must be built with immersion in mind. By Jack Hunsley

Making vehicles safe is one thing; making sure that people use these vehicles safely is another task entirely. Advances in Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology are helping to reduce the number of road collisions, and as these technologies mature and the industry begins to adopt automated vehicle technology, these figures should continue to drop. For the time being, however, how the industry can ensure its customers are keeping their eyes on the road is a huge question. One solution is head up displays (HUDs).
