UK engine manufacturing poised for growth

Although engine production in the UK has declined year-on-year so far this year, new investments and the opening of JLR's new engine plant, combined with government initiatives, look set to boost this sector.

Engine production in the UK declined year-on-year in September as output for the export market fell. In all, a total of 211,185 engines were produced in the country last month, 13.6% fewer than the 244,409 engines produced in September 2013. This drop in output has been attributed in part to retooling in the industry.
