E-mobility key in transformation to advanced mobility provider, says VW

Michael Nash speaks to Volkswagen’s Jochem Heizmann about the company’s plans for battery electric vehicles, particularly within China

Several recent announcements made by Volkswagen suggest that the company is eager to turn over a new leaf in vehicle electrification. At the company’s annual general meeting (AGM) in June 2016, the OEM launched its new business plan called Together: Strategy 2025, a cornerstone of which is e-mobility.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive and Chairman of the Board of Management Matthias Müller said that VW would launch 30 new electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025. Key to VW’s plans for electrification is the Chinese market, which it hopes to tackle through the establishment of a new partnership.
