Diesel car sales tumble in India amid consumer concern

Diesel car sales fell to just 23% at the end of 2017-18, from almost 50% five years ago. India is becoming a gasoline market, writes Radhe Shyam

Diesel car sales are collapsing in India. At a time when the Indian government has started a massive focus on promoting cleaner technologies and electric drivetrains to curb rising pollution across major cities, there has been a severe contraction in demand for diesel cars as customers opt for gasoline vehicles and other options such as hybrids.
