Daimler’s Chinese partner wants in on leasing action

With leasing poised for strong growth in China, BAIC plans to take a 35% stake in Daimler's local operations

Mercedes-Benz continues to forge closer ties with its Chinese partner BAIC, this time in the area of leasing. Parent company Daimler has been working with BAIC since 2003 and the collaboration has gradually expanded to cover various production and sales partnerships. In late 2013 Daimler acquired a 12% stake in BAIC Motor, the car division of the BAIC Group.
