Daimler engine plant latest in a series of FDI wins for Poland

Daimler’s Jawor engine factory may be its first in Poland, but it sees the OEM joining a well-established - and growing - auto industry manufacturing base. By Michael Nash

Poland, one of the key vehicle manufacturing locations in Europe, has been the recipient of a number of recent major automotive industry investments, many of which are centred on powertrain operations. The latest investment announcement sees Daimler confirming plans to build a €500m (US$550m) engine factory in Jawor. Further investments are expected, too, with Reuters reporting that Mateusz Morawiecki, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Development, has confirmed investment talks with Toyota, and saying, "We have a decision on another, big investment, American one, in the automotive sector."
