Heads have rolled over the past week; two heads, to be precise, but they are big ones. At Volkswagen (Read: VW shakes up leadership as US troubles mount) and AvtoVAZ (Read: Government brings in fresh leadership ahead of government bailout), fresh leadership is needed to revive their struggling operations in Russia and the US, respectively. While their troubles have long been mounting, the moves came abruptly and in neither case was a successor even in line at the time of the announcement.
