Cars are developing more and more into computerised mobile platforms. Increasingly common functions such as music streaming and live traffic information require the car to be connected to the Internet of Things, to automaker servers and to surrounding automobiles and other road users. But as demands for ever greater connectivity grow, tensions between the automotive industry and the connectivity world are increasing due to historically diverging approaches to licensing.
