COMMENT: 2013 – a very efficient year

2013 has been the year of achieving efficiency, indeed this fundamental route to lower emissions was even the theme of this year’s SAE World Congress. These days, the specialist transmissions and drivelines developed for supercars and electric vehicles apply CO2-reducing technologies in a number of interesting ways, with two complementary approaches: one that evolves state-of-the-art detail design to provide valuable incremental improvements; the other using all-new concepts to create a step change in CO2 emissions performance.
