CFRP expected to breach mass-volume segment by 2025

The use of CFRP is not expected in affordable, mass-market cars before 2025

In the search for lightweight materials, one of the options that has among the best potential, especially with regard to stiffness and strength to weight ratio, is carbon fibre reinforce plastic (CFRP). This material is about five times as strong as steel, twice as stiff and weighs around two-thirds less. The downside is cost.
