Can September’s MAUT data positivity carry through to October?

Oliver Dixon takes a closer look at September 2015 MAUT data

Germany’s Federal Office for Goods Transport – the Bundesamt für Güterverkehr, or BAG – releases data obtained from the operation of the LKW-MAUT truck toll on a monthly basis.

MAUT applies to around 35% of the German road network, and currently all vehicles over 12,000 kg gvw fall within its scope. However, as of October 2015, this population will be broadened out to include all vehicles over 7,500 kg.

Unlike many data sets available for assessing the health of the European road transport business, MAUT’s relative immediacy provides a useful counterpoint to the more historical registration data offered by ACEA.
