Beyond Better Place: Israel gears up for EV offensive 2.0

The country looks set to welcome a new wave of interest in electric mobility, thanks in part to innovative new technology from local players. By Megan Lampinen

In theory, Israel is a good match for electric mobility. It’s a small and relative insular country, and long-distance journeys are rare. Thanks to the discovery of large natural gas reserves, it also has cheap and clean electricity. On top of this, the ‘start-up nation’ is full of tech-friendly residents, particularly when it comes to automotive innovation. “All this creates an ideal configuration for electric vehicles (EVs),” asserted Avi Kenet, Chief Commercial Officer at local car importer Carasso.
